Dr. Nancy L. Hicks, 79, of Ithaca, left this life on Monday, April 26, 2021. She was born on November 3, 1941 to Harold and Margaret (Nixon) Hicks. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy Niznik.
She is survived by her sister, Susanne of Norman, OK; a niece, Debra Rittinger of Centennial, CO; a nephew, Dean Discenza (wife, Pam and children, Peter and Clara) and a nephew, Ryan Discenza (wife, Jenni and daughter, Lydia).
Nancy earned a BS Degree from Ithaca College, two MS Degrees (Ithaca College and Syracuse University) and a PhD from Iowa University. She taught at Ithaca College, Syracuse, Iowa and Oklahoma University. She retired from Cornell University in the capacity of Assistant Director of Cooperative Extension.
Her passion was helping others and she served the community in several capacities, lastly as President of Kendal's Resident Council. Her love was her pets, her family and the residents and staff at Kendal. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Kendal Resident Council, 2230 N. Triphammer Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
