Mose Norman

August 25, 1925 — June 16, 2015

Mose Norman of Fort Myers, Florida, passed Tuesday, June 16, 2015. He was 89,
but will be remembered forever.
Mose was born August 15, 1925 in Portland POint/Lansing NY and moved to Fort
Myers from Ithaca, NY in 1975. But not before making a mark in Ithaca where he
was a successful businessman who employed and mentored many fellow
residents. First, from 1958 until 1965, forging his way with steely determination
from a barber to the owner of three thriving shops. Later, he purchased, owned,
and operated the Derby I and Derby" Restaurants and Night Clubs until 1983
when he moved to Florida.
As for where Mose acquired his steely determination, perhaps that was during
World War" aboard the USS Quincy, which is service he was particularly proud of,
being a child of immigrants.
Mr. Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty Norman; his
three daughters: Darlene, Debra and Michelle; his brother, Sam Norman; his five
grandchildren: Marcus, Ashley, John Michael, Jessica and Michael and three great
grandchildren: Alexis, Sophia Rose and Bowe.
Calling hours will take place on June 22, 2015 at Bangs Funeral Home 10 - 11 am.
Memorial and burial will take place in Ithaca, New York. On June 22, 2015 at 11am.
