Mona Molowa Miller died August 26, 2014 at the Cayuga Medical Center. Mona the youngest daughter of Suzanna (Long) and Albert Molowa was predeceased by her father Albert Molowa and mother Suzanna, husband Donald B. Miller, sisters Elizabeth (Bess) Gillis, Kathleen Powers and brother Albert Molowa, daughter-in-law Cheryl (Suki) Miller. She is survived by her son Donald E. Miller (Josie Nemier) of Ithaca and Sandy Creek, NY, daughter Maureen (Don) McCabe-Power of East Lansing, MI, grandsons, Jamie Miller of Palm Bay, Florida, Jonathan (Alicia) Miller of Ontario, NY, sister in law Doris Molowa of Basking Ridge, NJ, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

Mona was born June 14, 2014 in London, England and moved with her mother and two sisters to the maternal homestead in Cork, Ireland at the age of 1 year and lived there until the end of World War I. The family was then re-united in New York City in 1920. Eventually the family moved to Ithaca, NY where "Molowa" was employed by the Treman family.

Mona attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Ithaca High School. She graduated from the Practical Business School and was employed by the Tompkins County Trust Company until her retirement in 1984 at the age of 70. She worked in various departments during her long career culminating in serving as the secretary to the President C.E. Treman, Jr. Mona was active in many community organizations and was very proud of the work she did raising money for the building of the Women's Community Building. She was also proud of being able to enjoy her recent 100th birthday celebrations.

Thanks to the family members and friends who have continued to be faithful helpers and companions to Mona without whom her quality of life would have been greatly diminished - among them Trink Orzino, Sue & Al Gillis, Andrew Gillis, LeBron Rankins, care giver Judy Backner and special friend Frieda Alexander. Thanks as well to the staff at the Longview Enhanced Assisted Living facility where Mona has resided for the last two years and the staff on 4 South of the Cayuga Medical Center for their compassionate caring of Mona and her family over the last few days.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Bangs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at Noon. Private graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery.
