Miriam "Mimi" (Wallace) Thuesen

March 9, 1956 — June 5, 2023

Lansing

On June 5, 2023, Miriam “Mimi” Wallace Thuesen, 67, of Lansing, New York passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband Michael, her two children, her sister, and her grandchildren at her side.

Born to Maury and Evelyn Wallace, on March 9, 1956, in Ithaca, New York, with her twin sister Patricia “Pat” Lucente, followed by her brother Richard “Rick” Wallace. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1974 and graduated as a Dean’s List student from Cornell before obtaining a master’s degree in accounting from Binghamton University and a license as Certified Professional Accountant. Mimi worked for CLDM, now Insero, for 25 years. She was known for her work as a highly skilled auditor and mentor in her field.

Mimi enjoyed spending her time golfing, especially with her twin Pat, and fishing. She also enjoyed going to live music with her husband, Mike, and especially watching Mike play live music. Mimi’s joy was at its greatest when she was spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and mom, doting grandmother, a beloved aunt, and a cherished sister. As part of her family life, her affections extended to her dogs, cats, and other animals.

Mimi and Mike attribute their successful marriage to living by this Martin Buxbaum quote, “If there was one thought I could pass along to every married couple it would be this: Be kind to one another. Never wait until tomorrow to show signs of affection, for someday there will be no tomorrows for one and many lonely tomorrows for the other.”

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mike, and her children Andy and Erica (Anthony). She is also survived by three grandchildren, Aly, Damon, and Elijah, her identical twin sister Pat (Steve), her brother Rick (Seana), her sister-in-law Nancy Gell (David), and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday June 8 at 12 p.m. at Temple Beth-El, on the corner of Court and Tioga Street in Ithaca, New York 14850. Followed by a reception at Crossroads Bar and Grille in Lansing, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Tompkins County or Temple Beth-El.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bangs Funeral Home, Ithaca, New York. Online condolences may be made to Mimi’s family at www.bangsfuneralhome.com
