Miriam Mathew, age 71 years old , met the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face on October 20, 2020. Miriam (‘Mama’to us) had her two sons, Mithran and Vivek and her husband, Subash by her side when she took her last breath. Miriam was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu on November 8, 1948 to KC Chandy and Sarah Chandy.

Although Miriam was fighting numerous health challenges towards the end with Arthritis, Parkinsons and Cancer with an especially challenging chemotherapy course, you would never know it because her spirits were high until the very end. Her smile and laugh was contagious and despite her pain she never complained, she kept it a secret.

Miriam was truly blessed in all aspects of life. She loved the Lord with all her heart and instilled that love in her whole family.   She was a devoted sister, wife, mom, and grandmother. She loved music, and shared this love together with others, both performing and listening with her husband, her sons as well as her grandkids. Although not necessarily the one that was seen and heard – she was emphatically the heart and soul of the Mathew family. She maintained high standards as the conductor to the well- orchestrated Mathew household and to Subash’s pediatric practice in Defiance, Ohio.

Miriam is survived by her husband, Subash Mathew of 49 Years, her children, Mithran (Anita) and Vivek (Jeanie). She is the proud grandmother of 5, Anjali Miriam (15), Meera Elizabeth (13), Kalyani Jean (9), Leena Cheriyan (4) and Kavi Paul (2). She is also survived by her sister, Babli (Sarah Paul)
