Min Yang

On Friday, January 27, 2023, Min Yang, loving husband, and father, passed away at the age of 66.

Min was born on September 5, 1957, in China.  After graduating from Lanzhou University in 1982, he obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry and worked as a professor.    He married Yun in 1984 and they raised one son, Yan.  Min moved to the United States with his family in 2000.  After working in Chicago as a chemist for 14 years, he moved to Ithaca, NY where he worked as a research associate at Cornell University.

Min had a passion for the outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman and gardener.  For many years he and his wife cultivated beautiful and bountiful home gardens.  Their fall harvests were shared among neighbors and friends.  Colorful roses adored the gardens during spring and summer times.  Min also enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was known for his handiness, his infectious smile, and his kind spirit.

Min was preceded in death by his father, Hongfa. He is survived by his mother, Xuqin, his wife Yun, his son, Yan, his brothers Wu and Cheng, one sister, Yiwen, several cousins, two nieces, and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:00am at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street, Ithaca, NY. A visitation will follow until 12:00pm.
