A week after his 64th birthday, on Thursday, July 15th, 2021, Micky Haralson passed away at Montefiore Hospital in New York City. Micky was born in California on July 8th, 1957 to Lois and Joseph Haralson. He grew up in Hacienda Heights, CA, where he attended Glen A. Wilson High School, after which he enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed at various bases across the US, and eventually in Germany. This led to a trip to the Netherlands, where a Dutch girl captured his attention. He kept returning, taking the four hour train ride from Heidelberg to meet her. She finally warmed up to him and in 1985 they were married in the Netherlands. They then moved to the US where Micky's other assignments included Purdue Army ROTC in West-Lafayette, Indiana, AFCENT in Brunssum, the Netherlands, and Cornell Army ROTC in Ithaca, New York. During these years Annemiek and Micky had three children together. After Micky's retirement from the Army, he worked at the Cornell Army ROTC where he retired in 2018.
Micky loved to travel, and took his family on many trips back to the Netherlands and on road trips. He enjoyed exploring, always being curious about what was around the next bend. Growing up in California fostered a lifelong love for the beach. His favorite beach was in St Martin.
Micky worked hard to provide for his family, making sure they had what they needed. He was kind, thoughtful, and ready to help.
Micky was predeceased by his parents Lois and Joseph, his brother Ricky, his son Michael, and his daughter Dezzirae. He is survived by his wife Annemiek, sons Bart, Tim, and Niels, his sister Vicky, and brothers Gary and Jody.
Funeral services will be at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, July 22, at 12:00PM. Afterward visitors are welcome at the family's home in Enfield.
