Michael Richard Pronti

Michael Richard Pronti, 78, born in Elmira, New York, on September 27, 1944, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023 surrounded by his family.  Michael is predeceased by his wife Zoe E. Pronti, his mother Aurora A. Minter and his father Richard F. Pronti.  Michael is survived by his wife, Carole Pronti, his sons, Scott (Megan Akin) Pronti, James (Kelly) Pronti, Greg (Abby) Pronti, grandchildren, Rachel, Meghan, Eva Zoe, Maia, and Cora.  Stepchildren, Matthew Warren, Brad Warren, and Lindsay Jones and 8 step-grandchildren. His siblings Thomas (Brenda Travis) Pronti, Pamela (James) Kraus, Robert Pronti, Debbie Eisert, and Cathy Moritz.

Michael was raised in Elmira, NY where he attended Southside High School.  He went on to graduate from Ithaca College, where he played baseball and met his first wife Zoe.   Michael loved watching his boys play sports and coaching them in baseball.   Michael had some of his best times on the golf course including his hole-in-one on #12 at Cornell.  He was a huge Yankees fan, loved fishing and fine dining with close friends.

Michael retired after a 35-year career as Director of Special Education for TST BOCES in Ithaca where a playground was dedicated in his name.  In retirement he and his wife Carole enjoyed playing golf, spending time with their kids and grandchildren and their annual trip to Florida.

Services will be Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street, Ithaca, NY.  Calling hours are 12-1:30 followed by a service at the funeral home at 1:30 pm and then a burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Lansing, New York.
