Ithaca: Michael R. Morog, 79, of Ithaca, NY, passed away April 3, 2012. He died peacefully in his sleep after a long illness at Cayuga Medical Center. Michael was a graduate of Warren G. Harding Elementary School in Buffalo, Kenmore Senior High School, and Colgate University. He was president of the Delta Upsilon fraternity during his senior year at Colgate and lettered in varsity football all four years. After graduation, Michael joined the Air Force and continued in the Air Force Reserve. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Lackawanna, NY and Johnstown, PA, as Assistant Superintendent of Steelmaking. After retirement from Bethlehem Steel, he went on to work at MINCO in Johnson City, TN, as the General Plant Manager and then director of R&D, retiring in 2002. He relocated to Ithaca in 2005 to be near his family. Michael was the fourth of five children of Barbara (Jalsevac) and Joseph Morog, both now deceased. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Lodick); his two daughters, Maria (John Fereira) and Julia (Johann Studier); and three grandchildren, Elena Studier, Sylvie Studier and Eli Fereira. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Culig and brother, William. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Lawrence. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Of Bistrica Croatian Church, in Lackawanna, NY with a luncheon following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CMC Foundation for the nursing staff, 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY, 14850 or the charity of one's choice.
