Michael A. Horigan, 57, of Ithaca, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November, 12, 2017 at Hospicare in Ithaca. Born in Elmira, NY to Michael and Elizabeth Horigan, he lived most of his adult life in Ithaca and loved its diverse culture and people.
Michael, who also went by Karna, was a joyful and passionate man. He loved baseball and could speak for hours about the history of the sport, particularly his favorite team, the Yankees. He was incredibly charming and charismatic which made him an incredibly talented salesman, his profession for most of his career. In his free time, he enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, playing board games, reading and having thought provoking discussions with his friends and family.
Michael was tremendously loving and proud of his wife, Rubina Yasmin, whom he would often brag about, as she worked on various innovative research projects. He loved spending time with his wife's family and would often regale his friends and family with humorous anecdotes about his young nieces and nephews. Michael was extremely close to his son, Brendon Horigan, and they would speak frequently about anything and everything. He is also survived by his parents, his siblings: Elizabeth Ann Moore of Vienna, VA.; Tommy Horigan of York, ME; Tim Horigan of East Amherst, NY; Jim Horigan of Chester, NH and their spouses and children; as well as his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec, 2, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Foundation of Light, 391 Turkey Hill Road, Ithaca, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Loaves & Fishes of Ithaca.
