Michael S. ("Greener") Greene

Michael S. Greene (Greener) 60, of Newfield passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022 after a well fought battle with cancer.

Mike was born on December 27, 1961 in Ithaca, NY to Stanley and Dawn Greene. He was a 1980 graduate of Ithaca High School. Mike proudly worked for his family-owned business, Greene’s Soft Water Service for over 40 years until his retirement in December 2020.

Over the years Mike has pursued numerous sports, which included hockey, hiking, racing his Mustang and fishing. Mike was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time on the golf courses across upstate NY with his many friends and especially on Sundays with his wife.

Mike had a great love for dogs. He always had a box of Milk-Bone’s in his work van and considered himself the “Ice Cream Man” to the dogs of his customers.

Mike is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sandra. He is also survived by his mother Dawn Greene of Ithaca, NY, his sisters Linda Greene of Lamesa, CA and Susan Greene of Madison, WI. He was predeceased in death by his father, Stanley Greene.

In keeping with Mike’s Wishes there will be no services. Donations in memory of Mike can be made to either the American Cancer Society, or the SPCA of Tompkins County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bangs Funeral Home, online condolences can be left at www.bangsfuneralhome.com
