Michael Edward (Mike) Beach

Michael “Mike” Beach, age 64 of Newfield, NY passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2023, with his wife by his side.

Mike is survived by his wonderful wife of 41 years, Helen Beach. He is also survived by his two sisters, MaryAnn (Chuck) Stillwell, and Beth Beach (Chuck Kronen); his four children, Bernadette (Scott) Roberts, Bobby (Ashley) Beach, Becca (Chris) Mott and Mickey (Anaiah) Beach; his three amazing grandchildren, Zayne and Zara Roberts, and Gwendolyn Beach; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Beach; his two brothers, Bobby Beach and John Beach; and his in-laws, Robert and Theresa Albert.

Mike was born on May 21st, 1959 in Ithaca, NY where he lived until he moved to Newfield, NY with his wife, Helen in 1984. Mike’s father worked for the Postal Service, and he would follow in his footsteps after leaving Evaporated Metal Films in 1995. He worked as a letter carrier and moved up to supervisor at the Warren Rd. office in Ithaca, then moved up to Postmaster for the Newfield office and retired in 2019 at the Elmira, NY plant. He loved cooking and worked at Centini’s Coddington Italian Restaurant from 1983 until 2005, helping anytime they needed, making memories and family along the way. His love of cooking also led him and his wife to open a small diner located in Newfield, NY named Poppa’s Kitchen. He loved making people happy with his food and they served the community at Poppa’s Kitchen from October 2018 to September 2020. His love for cooking always brought his family together, and he has passed down that love to his children with many amazing recipes. Besides cooking he loved dressing up as Santa, he has been playing Santa since 1984, and was the best at it. He also loved the NY Yankees and the NY Giants, being an avid fan his whole life. He loved his two dogs, taking naps, fishing, mowing his lawn, having a wonderful meal at Sal’s Pizzeria and spending time with his three wonderful grandchildren. We will always carry his memories in our hearts, and we hope all that were blessed to know him will as well.

Calling hours will be held from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St., Ithaca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, December 28th, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Augustine Chumo officiating.
