Maylon Flood was born October 9, 1939, in Waverly NY. His mother was Dorothy Strong Flood Saltus. His father was John Flood. His stepfather was Earl Saltus. (All decease). He is survived by his sister Sandra Flood Holleran, and brother-in-law Tom Holleran. According to his Aunt Wanda, Maylon always had a mind of his own and was the first baby in the family that she remembered. She said she sat for him as a tiny baby and "can vouch for the above statement." She wrote: "I thought I could never love another child as I did him. He was a great organist and played at most of the family weddings." Maylon graduated in 1958 from South Side High School in Elmira NY. He went on to study organ at Ithaca College. He had various churches he played for, but his favorite by far was St. Thomas at Slaterville Springs where he served as an organist for 23 years. Maylan was connected deeply to fellow parishoners by his music. He was also an artist. His favorite medium was gardening skills, creating rock gardens of amazing beauty. Maylon died on October 25, 2017. Maylon will be remembered and missed by many.
