Maurice Eugene Tubbs

Maurice Eugene Tubbs, of Newfield and formerly of Trumansburg, passed from this life into the next on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the age of 91. His promotion came while he was serving as an usher at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca, where he had been a member for over 70 years. Maurice also faithfully served as a Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School teacher, Treasurer and choir member.



Born in Trumansburg, Maurice enlisted with the US Marine Corps at age 17, then returned home after WWII to marry, raise a family, and work as a printer and photographer.



Maurice was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Grover Tubbs; and survived by daughter Virginia (David) Peterson; three sons, Ronald (Diane) Tubbs, Randall (Cheryl) Tubbs, and Kevin (Linda) Tubbs; 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.



A celebration of Maurice's life will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Ithaca, on Thursday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m., preceded by calling hours at 10:00 a.m. Private burial with military honors will be delayed until spring.
