Vogle, Mary Elizabeth Gough

Age 91, of Ithaca, NY passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. Mary was born at home on March 13, 1926 in Adams Basin, NY, the daughter of William V. and Mabel Morgan Gough. She was the youngest of 4 siblings. Mary grew up on a family farm and had wonderful stories about her childhood along the Erie Canal, education in her two room school house, and camaraderie among neighbors who supported each other during the difficult days of the Depression. She graduated in 1943 from Brockport High School , worked as a secretary for Lincoln Rochester Bank and attended Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. In 1951 she married and became a full time homemaker, raising 4 children. She was a committed community volunteer, a hostess extraordinaire, and "fashionista."

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Theodore J. Vogle, Jr. She is survived by her children, Mary Elizabeth (Stephen) Colucci of Ithaca, NY; Theodore James (Cynthia) Vogle of Damascus, MD; William Vogle (Pam Clendenen) of Norfolk, VA; and James Edward (Samantha) Vogle of Lexington, KY. Also two grandsons: David Anthony and Gregory Donald Colucci.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Joseph Marcoux on Wednesday, July 19, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Ithaca. The family will greet guests beginning at 9 a.m. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY will follow in the afternoon.
