Mary Ruth Inman

August 11, 1914 — December 19, 2017

Ruth Inman, 103, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Cayuga Ridge. A warm-hearted person with a keen sense of humor, she had a great gift for dwelling on the best that life gave her. She was very close with her cousins and was a wonderful friend to many Ithacans over her long life.
She was born Mary Ruth Moore on August 11, 1914, to Sydney and Anna Moran Moore, in Rochester. The family moved to Ithaca when Ruth was small to help her young cousins whose mother had died. Later Ruth, her parents, and her younger brother Edward moved to a farm on Calkins Road. Ruth attended the two-room Inlet Valley School, Ithaca High School, and a local business school. She worked at Cornell Law School and at GLF (later called Agway), and was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church.
She and her husband, Elmer Inman, had no children. Following his death in the early 1970s she moved into McGraw House, where she lived for 34 years before moving to Longview. Until very near the end of her life, Ruth retained her mental faculties and her wonderful ability to find something to laugh about.
Predeceased by her parents, brother, and husband, Ruth is survived by a cousin, Elaine Wallman, and close friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Hospicare
