Mary Elizabeth Bowers

Mary Elizabeth Bowers went to be with Our Lord on September 18, 2014. Born October 30, 1920, in Wellsboro, PA, daughter of the late Andrew and Clara L. Schultz. She graduated Wellsboro HS and then a Business School in Ithaca, NY where she met her husband Frederick H. Bowers and was married on December 22, 1941. They had been married 60 years at the time of her husband's death. Mary was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and American Legion Post 0676. Mary loved to bake cookies for her children and grandchildren and was a dedicated wife and mother. She loved drawing, painting, and worked in ceramics. She was pre-deceased by her parents Andrew and Clara Schultz, , her husband Frederick H. Bowers, her son Frederick E. Bowers, her sisters Kay Weinerth and Helen Zader and Dorothy Harnas, her brothers Louis Schultz and Andrew E. Schultz, and her Great-Granddaughter Olivia Bowers. She is survived by her daughter Claire Alger (Brian Phinney), sons Harry Bowers (Kathy) and Robert Bowers (Alicia), sisters-in-law Beatrice Schultz and Ann Schultz, daughter-in-law Phyliis Bowers, 11 Grandchildren, and 12 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great Grandchild, nieces and nephews. Calling hours for family and friends will be at Bangs Funeral Home on Friday September 26th 1 to 2:30 pm with a service after. Burial will be at Christian Cemetery in Enfield, NY at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or the Danby Fire And Rescue Squad.
