Mark W. Brockway

May 19, 1947 — July 1, 2022

Ithaca

Mark Brockway passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. After his graduation from IHS in 1965, Mark continued his studies at East Tennessee State University. While he resided in Tennessee, he joined several “rock” bands as their drummer. He received his degree in Industrial Engineering. Upon his return to Ithaca, he was employed by Morse Borg Warner and later by Morse Emerson Power Train Transmissions, as their chief quality manager.

Mark was basically a lifelong Ithacan. He was a classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed participating and attending car shows, as well as events at the Watkins Glen race track. He was also a very handy, handyman. His grandkids said “If Papa can't fix it, no one can!” He enjoyed vacationing in the Adirondacks in all four seasons. He especially enjoyed Camp Heretiz while it was still standing.

Mark is survived by his wife, Jean (Cotton), his daughters, Rachel Webster, and Kimberly Banks (Damon), as well as his grandkids, Roman, Reese, and Reagan Banks. In addition he is survived by his much loved siblings, David Brockway, and Minnette Jordan (Jack). Mark also loved his Cotton family.  The Cottons knew him as “Bud.” He is survived by his sister in-law, Marcia, and brothers in-law Richard (Brenda) and Dale (Annu). He also left several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He entertained them with his “Donald Duck” voice and hysterical antics.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 9th at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St. Ithaca, NY from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please send any contributions to the Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Rd. Ithaca, NY. Mark, Jean and the girls enjoyed several wonderful pets from the SPCA over the years.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care Mark received at Cayuga Medical Center. The staff is compassionate and well trained. We are fortunate to have such a high quality medical institution in our community.
