Margaret A. Thayer, 96, of Ithaca., died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Hospicare Residence. She was born in Ludlowville, daughter of the late George and Ethel Wood Alexander and was the widow of Claude K. Thayer, who died in 2005.
Margaret was a life resident of Ithaca and a graduate of Ithaca High School. She had worked as a bookkeeper at the Southern Linen Co. and also at Cornell University. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Red Hat Society
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Linda Thayer; her nieces, Ellen Marshall and Leah Lucas and nephews, David, Philip, Errol and Danny Thayer.
Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Alice Tewell on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be in the East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or the First Presbyterian Church, 215 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
