Margaret M. "Marge" Humble

Margaret M. "Marge" Humble, 93, of Shaffer Rd., Newfield, died Friday, September 01, 2017 at the Cayuga Medical Center. She was born in Pittston, PA, daughter of the late Jacob and Julia Findora Smith and was the widow of Joseph W. Humble who died September 14, 2004.

Marge had worked at McDonald's and at the Ithaca High School cafeteria. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post #961 and a member of the Ithaca American Legion. She was a former member of the Newfield Lioness Club, The Eagles and The Moose. Marge was well known for her baked breads and her famous rum cakes. When you were with Marge you knew you were in for a good time. You never knew what sayings she might come up with. Her famous last words before leaving: "Goodnight Everybody"!

Marge is survived by her children, Robert (Linda) Humble, James (Karen) Humble, Lawrence (Susan) Humble and Valerie (Dale) Burgess; her grandchildren, William Humble V, Christopher Humble, Caresse Humble-Myers, Aaron Humble, Nathan Humble, Jason Humble, Caleb Humble, Chad Burgess, Brett Burgess, Hiliary Humble-Mushatt, Carly Humble-Bennett, Julie Burgess and Natalie Kaufmann and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ann Marie Smith and Mary Lou Shaw and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Marge was also predeceased by her son, William W. "Buddy" Humble IV, who died this past July and her brother, Robert Smith.

A graveside service will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield on Saturday, September 9th at a time to be announced followed by a celebration of her life at the VFW Post #961. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marge's memory may be made to the VFW Post #961 or to the Ithaca American Legion.
