Lucille F. Tompkins

Lucille F. Tompkins, of Ithaca, NY, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Cayuga Medical Center. She was born on October 28, 1921 in Addison, NY, daughter of the late Lewis and Dorothy Brown Howell.

Lucille graduated from Newfield Central School and the Del Kadar Beauty School in Elmira, NY. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Newfield for 40 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star in Newfield and the Newfield Senior Citizens. In addition to spending time with her many good friends, she enjoyed crocheting and playing bridge and pinochle.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was also predeceased by her husband, Howard Tompkins; her son, David Tompkins and daughter-in-law, Linda Tompkins. She is survived by her son, Richard Tompkins; daughter-in-law, Susan Tompkins; her brother, Robert Howell; grandchildren, Catherine (Scott) Covert, Donald (Jennifer) Tompkins, Christopher Tompkins and Jackie Tompkins and her great grandchildren, Steve and Greg Covert, Alex, Avery, and Austin Tompkins and Trace Tompkins.

A private graveside service will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucille's memory may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
