Linda Cox

September 19, 1941 — March 15, 2019

Linda Marie Cox of South Danby passed away peacefully Friday, March 19, 2019 following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Boyd Earl Cox.

Linda was born in 1941 in Herkimer, NY. The daughter of a farmer, she was no stranger to hard work and was instilled with a deep love for all animals from a young age. This love carried through into her work with the S.P.C.A., where it is well-known that she would give a home to any animal who could not otherwise find one.

She spent nearly three decades working for Tompkins Community Action, providing outreach and helping those in need. She had a special place in her heart for the disadvantaged and was a champion of the oppressed and unappreciated. She opened her home to children in need and was known as “mom” to many.

Linda is survived by her daughter Cheryl (David) and sons Barry and Darrel (Susannah). She will also be remembered by her ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Kaelin, Taylor, Anna Kate, Olivia, Elias, John Douglas, Emma, Ian, and Aidan. Her children, Grandchildren and (granddogs) were life's joy.

She will be remembered most for her amazing capacity to love and the depth of her heart.

Memorial donations may be made in Linda's name to Tompkins Community Action food pantry at 701 Spencer Rd.

Ithaca, NY 14850, c/o Lee Dillion, Executive Director.

A memorial celebration of Linda's life will be announced at a later date.
