Leo L. Teeter, born May 22, 1933, died peacefully at his home in Ithaca, NY, May 27, 2024 surrounded by his wife of 69 years and his loving family. Leo was the son of the late Peter and Julia Teeter. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Francis Traynor, Zarah “June” Poyer and Julie Thompson.
Leo is Survived by his wife, Lillie Teeter. His children, Peter (Patricia) Stage, Deborah Gould, John (Cecilia) Teeter and Leo L. Teeter Jr. His grandchildren, Penny Stage, Alicen Gould, Jamie (John) Arreguin, Tiffani (Chris) Gerace, Emily Teeter, Jonathan Teeter, Leo “Trey” Teeter III. Great-grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Eric, Lillee, Brycen, Peyton, Liam and Emilea. Also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
Leo joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17 serving 4 years before returning to Ithaca where he met his beautiful wife. After working various jobs, Leo began his career as the owner and operator of Reynold’s Variety Store where he worked 7 days a week, 365 days a year for the next 46 years. Everyone who was a patron or employee of Reynold’s became a friend and even family such as Richie Burke, Bobby Breen and the late Randy Hubbell who were like sons to him.
The family would like to give a huge thanks to Dr. Garber and everyone at the VA, CMC, and Hospice for their care, help and support.
A graveside and memorial service will be held at a later date.
