Lenore Lewis Cohen

May 30, 1934 — September 12, 2024

Lenore Lewis Cohen was born in Ithaca, New York.  She was the daughter of the late Sydelle and I. Morris Lewis of Ithaca, NY.  She died peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2024.  Lenore was predeceased by her brothers, Murray Lewis and Ronald Lewis.  She is survived by her son, Aaron Lewis Cohen, daughter-in-law, Ellen Cohen and grandchildren, Nicholas Robert Cohen, Sarah Sydelle Cohen and Samantha Anne Cohen.

Lenore attended Ithaca High School and Cornell University where she was a member of the Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority.  Lenore was the founder and director of the National Hypoglycemia Association for over22 years.  She was also a political activist and held many positions in the Republican Party.  She was President of the Ridgewood Unit of Republicans for six years.  Lenore actively campaigned for local, county, state and national candidates in New Jersey and New York.

Lenore was a member of the Temple Beth El in Ithaca, the United Jewish Federation and the Cornell Club.  She volunteered at Valley Hospital, the Cerebral Palsy Center, the United Jewish Appeal and the House of Miriam, a home for the aged.  Lenore was an advocate for legislation for nursing home reform against abuse and neglect for those unable to protect themselves.

Lenore’s mother, Sydelle Lewis, was a true inspiration to her.  She was a Republican political activist and served as Republican State Committee Woman for 20 years in Tompkins County, New York.
