Lawrence J. Rosica

Elmira: Larry was born October 25th 1939 to Romeo and Lucy Rosica in Elmira, NY. He died on November 1st, 2014. At age 10, his family moved to Ithaca where he graduated from Immaculate Conception School and IHS Class of '57. He attended Iowa State U. and was honorably discharged from the US Army. His love of sports sustained him through his life. At IHS, he was a sectional champion in wrestling and bowling, a football halfback and baseball infielder. He continued his wrestling at Iowa State. Larry owned Rosica Distributing Co. for many years. For the last 15 years, he worked at Green Hornet Cab Co. and took his last fare in Oct. 2014. Many of his customers will miss his friendliness and generosity. Larry is survived by his sister, Ermina (Fausto) Gentile, Las Vegas; very close friends, Tom Scaglione, Jim Atsedes and Fran Benedict; and the love of his life, Kathy O'Rourke. Predeceased by his parents and brother Dominic. In lieu of flowers, please consider Immaculate Conception School or the SPCA in his honor.
