Kenneth R "Butch" McComb, Jr., 62, passed away Monday April 13, 2015 at the Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Kenneth and Sylvia McComb.
Butch was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired this year after 25 years of service with the City of Ithaca Department of Public Works. He was a member of American Legion Post #221, Veterans of Foreign War's Post #961 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1253. Butch loved to play euchre and was an avid fan of the N Y Yankees, Syracuse Orangeman and NASCAR. His greatest joy was being with family, especially his grandson, Jackson.
Butch is survived by his loving partner of 18 years, Amy Hughes and her family; daughter and son- in-law, Melissa and Peter Alario; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Brittany McComb and his grandson, Jackson Alario. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia McComb and Beverly Hughes and his brother, Edward McComb. In addition to his parents, Butch was also predeceased by his twin sister Kathleen McComb, and siblings Sylvia Hiney, Dora Fish, William McComb, Robert Murinchak, and John Murinchak.
A celebration of Butch's life will be held at the VFW Post #961 on Thursday, April 16, 2015 beginning at 4 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch's memory may be made to the VFW Post 961, 423 W. State St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
