SPENCER – Kathryn A. Decker, 66, of Spencer, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Born on May 2, 1952 in Colonie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose Albert Primeau and Martha Frances Perrot.
For 17 years, she drove bus for the Newfield School District. She was truly loved by her students.
Kathryn was a faithful God loving wife. She was a leader at the People’s Baptist Church for 20 years where she and Gerald have been lifelong active members. She was always the life of the party and always made everyone laugh. She loved bird watching, knitting and crocheting. Kathryn often donated blankets to veterans and every child born in the church went home with a blanket, hat or mittens. She referred to herself as the unofficial mayor of Wegmans in Ithaca as she went there to connect with family, friends and students. Kathryn was one of those moms who became your mom after the first hug. She made the best chocolate chip cookies and she would always let her children eat the raw dough. The secret ingredient was real butter and packed brown sugar. She taught us to laugh and love each other always.
For many years, Kathryn participated in clinical trials for people suffering from pulmonary hypertension. This drug she was prescribed, Remodulin which she referred to as “Hope” has been since approved for use and gave Kathryn 12 additional years to spend with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Gerald M. Decker; her sons, Nathaniel (Marcy) Decker of Springfield, PA, Michael Decker (Jessica) of Spencer; her daughter, Amber Williams (Sean) of Newfield; her grandchildren, Alexis Decker, Alyssa Decker, Brandon Decker, Cameron Decker, Alexander Decker, Jade Potratz, Mia Potratz; her brother, Andy Primeau; her sisters, Paullette McQuade, Mary Gursky; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-3 pm with a memorial service to follow on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at People’s Baptist Church, 364 Main Street, Newfield, NY 14867.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart lean not unto thine own understanding in all thy ways acknowledge him an he shall direct thy paths.
