Kathleen Shealy

Kathleen Louise Shealy, nee McMullen, Dies at 64 Years Old

Kathy died on April 21 st , 2024 near dawn at Tompkins County Hospicare & Palliative Care

Residential Facility in the Town of Ithaca, NY. Her adult children James Blanton Shealy and

Amber M. Shealy survive her.

Kathy was born on August 10 th , 1959 in Oneonta, NY to James G. McMullen and Lilia A. Morelli.

Her brother Arne T. McMullen and sister Patti A. Wojtowecz survive her; her brother James G.

McMullen Jr. predeceased her. She also had several nieces and nephews through siblings and

through her ex-husband’s side of the family.

She graduated from Burnt Hills High School in the year 1977, after which she opened a hair

salon in the same community. After meeting James R. “Dick” Shealy, she moved to Syracuse,

NY and graduated with a B.A. in Fashion Design at Syracuse University. She and Dick married

1983.

In 1987, Kathy and Dick moved to Ithaca, NY, where they settled in the Cayuga Heights

neighborhood. In Ithaca, Kathy was a stay at home parent, and pursued hobbies such as

candlemaking, soapmaking, photography, and sewing.

She was also an avid poet, auditing several writing seminars at Cornell University and published

over the course of her time in Ithaca.

A mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Monday April 29,2024, at 10:30 AM.
