Kathleen Marie Dusinberre-Carvell

Kathleen Marie Dusinberre-Carvell, 76, of Ithaca, NY, passed away Monday, April 05, 2021 at her residence.

Kathy was born in Lockport, NY on June 28, 1944 to Lloyd F. and Margaret Dorothy (Bligh) McIntyre.  She married Dr. Rodney Helder Dusinberre on December 20, 1972 in Lockport, NY.  After Dr. Dusinberre’s passing, she married George Carvell in 1994, who predeceased her.

Kathy graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1962 where her father was the principal. In 1966 she graduated from Valparaiso University with a B.A. in history.  She worked for the Ithaca City School District at Boynton Middle School from the early 1980‘s until her retirement in 2007.

Kathy was an incredibly intelligent and witty wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She had a deep love and appreciation for history and could talk for hours about her knowledge of world events.  She loved reading—especially historical non-fiction and mysteries and shared a love for British TV mysteries with her daughter, Mollie.  Kathy was also a devoted “Grandma Grandma” to her only grandchild, Jamesy, and loved playing games, watching movies, and doing magic tricks with him.

Kathy is survived by her daughter Mollie McIntyre Guerrero (Dusinberre), son-in-law James F. Guerrero, and grandson James Carroll Bligh Guerrero.  She is predeceased by her parents, her husbands, and her brother, David Lloyd McIntyre.  Kathy is also survived by her nephews Jeff D. McIntyre (Mary Beth) and Nicholas B. McIntyre as well as many beloved friends.
