Kathleen L. Bierce

July 19, 1939 — August 15, 2016

Kathleen L. "Kathy" Patterson Bierce, age 77, passed away on August 15, 2016 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Ithaca, New York on July 19, 1939, Kathy was the daughter of the late Thaddeous W. Patterson and Olga Williams Patterson and step-daughter of Arlene Fitzpatrick Patterson.


Graduating Ithaca High School in 1956, Kathy married, raised a family, and later started a career in the service industry working for Triple A-Ithaca and then as General Manager of Gulliver's Travel for over 20 years. At mid-life, she desired a real estate career as a Licensed Sales Person until she saw the need for specializing in single family home rentals and along with her entrepreneurial spirit, received her Real Estate Brokers license and Service Connection Real Estate was created. Throughout her service career, Kathy was a member of the Eagles and Moose clubs, and an avid member of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, Business and Professional Woman's Club, and the Landlords Association of Tompkins County.



Kathy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert D. Bierce; son, Paul Ramin; daughter, Brenda (Frederick) Ramin Thomas; sister, Carol Hunt and step sisters, Joyce Kimple, Marlene Haight, and stepbrother, David Fitzpatrick and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also predeceased by her sister, Sharon Patterson and brother, Donald N. Patterson and was the mother of Mark D. Ramin who has been missing for 14 years.

In keeping with Kathy's wishes there will be no calling hours or service. A memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made at Hospice at 172 E. King Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850 or to the charity of ones choice. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
