Karen Daharsh Jewell

Karen Daharsh Jewell, 74, passed away September 10, 2017 following a brief illness.

Karen was born March 20, 1943 in Ithaca, NY, the eldest daughter of the late Clarence "Barney" and Althea Daharsh. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beth Longcoy and her husband, James Jewell.

Karen graduated from Ithaca High School in 1960 and lived most recently in Bath, NY.

She worked for many years at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA where she was recognized with the prestigious International Athena Award, and retired from Penn State University as the Director of Continuing Education.

Karen is survived by her sister Deborah Reyna of Ithaca, NY; son Gordon Vonderlin and his wife Debbie and their sons Christopher, Brian and Matthew of Bath, NY; daughter Leslie Vonderlin Cirulli and her husband Michael of Newfield, NY; daughter Jennifer Roper and her husband Douglas of Boise, ID and their son Sergeant Dallon Vonderlin, stationed at JBLM, Washington; and nieces Kerrie Marshall (Josh) and her son Skyler and Valeri Longcoy (Jamie) and her children Savannah and Bailey. She enjoyed time with her great grandchildren, Jacob and Aubry Vonderlin.

Karen loved her family, history and traveling.

Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Phil Jordan on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11 at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call prior to the services beginning at 10 am. A complete obituary will follow.
