Julia Assunta Kennedy

October 20, 1926 — June 26, 2024

Ithaca

Julia Assunta Kennedy passed away, at home, on June 26, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on October 20, 1926, to Eugenio and Josephine Daino DiPrimio. She was the last of the 2nd generation of Italian immigrants from Italy.

Julia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William B. Kennedy, Jr., brothers: Louis and Joseph DiPrimio, sister: Teresa DiPrimio Dendis, brother-in-law, Charles Dendis, daughter: Marylou Kennedy Hosek, son-in-law: Gary Jaynes and niece: Kathleen Leonardo (who lived with her aunt for many years).

Julia is survived by: daughter, Josephine Kennedy Jaynes (Ithaca, NY); son-in-law, Michael Hosek (Bloomington, IN). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins from Waterloo (NY), Florida, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas (all who always called her A.J.)

Julia's young life was helping family, working at numerous family restaurants (Lehigh Valley, Joe's, Victoria (eventually called Luigi's).

When she was working at Joe's Restaurant, she met her husband William B. Kennedy (from Port Henry, NY), and they were married, July 21, 1947. She continued to work at the Victoria Restaurant (Luigi's), after taking time, to have 2 daughters (1948 and 1949).

Julia devoted herself to the Immaculate Conception Church, since she was young. After her husband died in 1972, her time was spent, continue to work at the restaurant, cooking, helping with grandchildren, and her very special Aunt Nancy Natali. Once the restaurant was sold in the 1980's, she still continued to help others and went to church every day. She loved going on pilgrimages with her church friends. She had made so many memories in Garabandal, (Spain), Medjugorje, (Bosnia), Fatima (Portugal), Lourdes (France), Vatican (Italy) and numerous bus trips throughout the United States (some of which, she coordinated).

The family wishes to thank all the people, (family, friends, caregiver aide, Hospicare), who helped, one way or another, through all the years, that mom had struggled with Alzheimer. She is finally at peace and reunited with all her loved ones, in heaven. We will keep her memories alive, always, in our hearts.

"Angels around you, Mom"
