Joshua "Josh" Wager

Joshua "Josh" Wager, 25, of Newfield, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 17, 2016.

Josh was a 2009 graduate of Newfield High School where he was a standout athlete in football and track. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 2009 until his honorable discharge in 2013. He was awarded top honors in his platoon and his company at his graduation from Boot Camp at Parris Island. Josh was currently working for Morgan's Landscaping and had been an avid hunter.

Josh is survived by his mother and father, Patty and Ed Johnson; his sister, Andrea Johnson and his brother, Mathew Johnson. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Dick and Dixie Wager; his paternal grandparents, Don Johnson, Renee Johnson and Janet Grasso; his uncles, Roy (Sheri) Johnson and Donnie (Devra) Johnson; his aunts, Wendy and Marcie Wager and Karrie Kappers and several great aunts and uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 4 pm at the People's Baptist Church in Newfield. Friends may call at the church prior to the service from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josh's memory may be made to the Newfield Boosters Club, 247 Main St., Newfield, NY 14867. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
