Josephine (Jo) Brewer Horn died at Kendal at Ithaca on December 6, 2020 at the age of 99 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Mabel (Pratt) Trull, her brother Samuel Trull and her husbands Robert Selden Brewer and Robert T. Horn, Sr.
Jo was born on July 24, 1921 in Brockton Massachusetts and grew up in New London and West Hartford Connecticut. After graduating from Kingswood-Oxford School and studying dance in Boston Massachusetts, she married Selden Brewer and moved to Ithaca in 1947. Jo and Selden had three children together.
While busy with a growing family, Jo volunteered at Cayuga Medical Center, was an active member of the Alter Guild at St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Ithaca Garden Club and PEO.
Following Selden’s death in 1965, Jo worked at Cornell University United Religious Works and for various administrators in Day Hall. After retiring from Cornell, Jo visited family and friends and traveled the world extensively. She enjoyed playing golf, and bridge, she was an avid needlepointer and loved solving the daily crossword puzzles.
In 1997, Jo married Robert T. Horn, Sr. and was delighted to be welcomed by Bob’s children; Elizabeth Horn Kurtz (Jeffrey), Robert T. Horn, Jr. (Joan) and Thomas Horn (Karen). Bob and Jo shared an active and happy life together visiting and enjoying their combined families and long time mutual friends. Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were much loved and an important part of their lives.
Jo and Bob moved to Kendal at Ithaca in 2006 and enjoyed cottage life until Bob’s death in 2009. Jo remained at Kendal until her death, enjoying her life with friends and visits from her much loved families. She took up art projects in her later years and filled books and walls with her colorful designs.
Jo is survived by her three children; Joanne Brewer Conway (Wayne Kressley), Robert Selden Brewer, Jr. (Irma Gonzolas) and Samuel Vincent Brewer.
Jo always felt a deep appreciation for the people in her life. Her husbands, her children, stepchildren and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren - all were an important part of her wonderful life.
