Joe was born on July 4, 1926 in Trenton, NJ to James and Ann (Travers) Meskill who pre-decease him. He died on June 21, 2018. Joe enlisted in the Navy and served his country in WWII even though he could never swim! He came back home and attended and graduated from Ryder College. He married Joyce Daily on June 24, 1950. Joe taught Math in Romulus and Trumansburg and coached JV basketball in Trumansburg before becoming the first principal of the Trumansburg Middle School in 1961. He loved officiating high school football, baseball and basketball as well as college soccer and baseball. After his retirement he enjoyed being principal at the Immaculate Conception School. Joe was a devout Catholic. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce, 2 sons, Michael (Viviana) of San Antonio, TX, Peter (Dale) of Trumansburg, NY and 1 daughter, Leta Jones of Buffalo, NY, along with 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Calling hours are 2-4 Monday, June 25 at Bangs Funeral Home and there will be mass at 10:00am Tuesday June 26 at St. James Catholic Church, Trumansburg followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Trumansburg.
