John Thomas (JT) Lee III passed away unexpectedly on Thursday August 19, 2021 at the age of 31. He was born in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania and grew up in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania. JT was an outgoing and loving spirit, always ready to make new friends. He loved music with all his heart and listened to a very wide selection - from serenading a slow song on his guitar, skanking to ska, or imitating scream metal. There was a dance party at least once a day if you were around JT. He was the first to attend to anyone isolated and could tell if you were feeling left out. He loved winter - whether snowboarding, sledding, or just taking late night strolls down a snow-covered street. JT truly enjoyed adventures growing up with summers on Lowe Lake with his siblings and neighbors; wakeboarding, dirt biking, quadding, and picking blueberries. One of his other favorite times of year was Grassroots Festival- where his generous, loving and spirited personality could bask in music and joy - getting weird and funky. He was sweet and sensitive, with a deep love of those dear to him and readily expressed his care for others. He wanted nothing but the best for others, and would have loved to now remind all of his friends and family to “stay weird!” - keep your hearts open and enjoy life. John is predeceased by his loving mother Heidi (Olson) Lee; grandparents June and Carl Olson; and uncles Bjorn and Rolf. He is survived by his father, John Thomas Lee Jr. (Lynn Aldredge); grandparents Carol Jo Henderson and John Thomas Lee Sr.; Aunt Laurie (Scott) Komita, Uncle Jeff (Lisa) Lee; cousins; siblings Kelsey, Kira (James Danis), and Travis Lee; and partner Heidi Henrichs.
A celebration of life is planned for September 27th at 6pm in Stewart Park at the Tea Pavilion. A memorial fund has been set up with Primitive Pursuits of Ithaca to support teen environmental education programming.
