John Kozak

John Kozak died at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital on September 9, 2014 after a brief but valiant battle with leukemia.

John was 17 years old and a student at Ithaca High School. John enjoyed playing games with his family and friends, cooking and fixing things. He was kind and loving and creative and will be missed very much by his family and friends.

John is survived by his parents, George and Mary Ann (Buckenmeyer) Kozak and his siblings, Genevieve Kozak, Wendy Kozak (Moses Wilks), Scott Kozak, Jeremiah Kozak and Isaiah Kozak; his grandmother, Violet Buckenmeyer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

John was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Bangs Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church with burial following at the Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the Jonathan Cancer Fund,401 N. Salina St., Suite 300, Syracuse, NY 13203 or to Catholic Charities, 324 W. Buffalo St., Ithaca, NY 14850.

The family wished to thank the wonderful staff of Upstate Medical Center, the Golisano Children's Hospital and the Upstate Cancer Center for their care for John. The family, also, would like to request that if you are able, please donate blood to the Red Cross to help others who suffer.
