John D. Hays, age 76, of 65 Janivar Drive, son of J. Willet and Frances Schuesselin Hays, passed away peacefully April 9th 2013.
Born in Piqua, Ohio, John earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and later a MBA from Syracuse University. After an engineering and managerial career at NCR Ithaca, he cofounded Ithaca Peripherals Inc. (now Transact Technologies). He served as Church Council President, Treasurer and member of the Finance and Investment Committees at the First Congregational Church of Ithaca. He was a long-time member of The Rotary Club of Ithaca
Survived by wife Karen A. Hays of 25 years; children David Hays (Robyn), Elizabeth Hays, Robert Hays (Amy), Jaekah Chase and Stephen Chase; grandchildren Jocelyn and Zachary Hays, Adelina and Jeanetta Hays and Genevive Chase.
His Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 13th 2013 at The First Congregational Church of Ithaca, 309 Highland Road, with Pastor Emeritus Reverend Dr. Douglas J. Green officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church in memory of John D. Hays.
