John Bolton. Jr.

John Bolton, Jr. was born in Cortland NY on July 3rd 1954, the fourth child of Jack and Emily Bolton.

John grew up in Ithaca NY where he attended elementary school, and junior high school at Immaculate Conception. He attended High School at St. Mary's, Honeoye and Ithaca High School. He earned his Associates degree from Corning Community College, a Bachelor's degree from Elmira College, and a Master's degree from Argosy University.

John worked as a paralegal, a tutor and counselor to troubled teens, and as a resident counselor to disabled adults. He loved to study the Bible and pray. His faith and his family were the most important things in his life. In 1973, at age 18, John was married to the love of his life, Nancy Shew. Together, they had 5 sons: Sean, James, Conor, Daniel and Finley, and 2 grandchildren: Jack and Cara.

John was a very unique man, with broad talents and interests. He loved people, was generous with his time and money, and possessed great talent and heart. He was a kind, loving, funny and honest man. His family and friends will always value the impact he had on their lives. We comfort ourselves with the knowledge that he was happy with what he'd accomplished, proud of his sons, and still thrilled to be married after 44 years. John lived life to the fullest, on his own terms, and departed this world, as he had intended, with ‘nothing left in the tank'. He will live on in our hearts and memories.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 07, 2017 at 11 am at Greensprings Natural Cemetery, Newfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the American Red Cross, 618 W. State St., Ithaca, NY 14850. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
