Jean Marie Rapone Ford

Jean Marie Rapone Ford, 69, of Willow Creek Rd., Trumansburg, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at her home. She was born in Ithaca, daughter of the late Paul O. and Virginia Tranquillo Rapone.


Jean was a member of the Ithaca High School Class of 1966. Following graduation she went to work at The Ithaca Journal where she held various positions during her 47 year career with the newspaper. She was an active longtime member of the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Jean was an avid bowler and has bowled in numerous local leagues and national tournaments. She loved to travel, whether it was to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada or dozens of other destinations over the years.


Jean is survived by her husband of 49 years, Brian Ford; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tammie Ford and her granddaughter, Alexis Ford. She is also survived by her brother, Paul J. (Donna Brown) Rapone and aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Jean was also predeceased by several aunts and uncles.


Jean's family would like to thank, JoJo and Bill Hagin, Connie and Eddie Amici, Sarah Yengo, Dr. Campbell and the nurses and staff at the Chemo Dept. and Eileen Morris from Visiting Nurse Services for their love and care.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Augustine Chumo on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the mass beginning at 10 am. Burial will be held at the Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation in Jean's memory may be made to the Trumansburg Volunteer Fire Dept., 74 W. Main St., Trumansburg, NY 14886 or to the Cancer Resource Center, 612 W. State St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
