Post, Janice Marie Spigarelli
Ithaca: Janice Marie Spigarelli Post, of Ithaca, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY. Her husband, Peter W. Post, died May 21, 1990. Born in Old Forge, PA, daughter of the late Dominick and Jennie Biscontini Spigarelli. She was a graduate of Old Forge High School, where she enjoyed being a Majorette, and Lackawanna Business College. Janice Retired from Cornell University after a 51-year career, starting as a secretary in the Engineering School and advancing to Administrator of Operations Research. Janice was a Parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She loved to travel, especially in earlier years with her loving husband, and fondly recalls her trip to Rome and Florence, Italy with her sister, Verna. Those who knew her will remember her as an avid reader of both fact and fiction. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Service League of Ithaca. Her family extends its appreciation to Dr. Yerkes and all the staff at Upstate Medical Center for their compassionate and dignified care. Survivors include sons, William Post of Brooktondale and Robert (Betty) Post of Victor, NY; grandsons, Jacob and Daniel Post; brother, Dominick (Debbie) Spigarelli of Venice, FL; sister, Verna (John), Covington Township; also an aunt, Norma Christiano of Old Forge, PA; and several nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Leo Reinhardt officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. of Tompkins County, 640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements
