James Sprague, 62, passed away peacefully on June 25th, 2021. Born to Phyllis Besemer Sprague and David A. Sprague in Ithaca, NY on January 22nd, 1959. Graduated I.H.S class of ‘77.
Jim is survived by his daughter Shaylee Sprague, step-sons Trevor and Tyler (Sayo) Morrissette, and Shannon Hurd Sprague. Also surviving are siblings Nancy Cleveland, David W. Sprague, Lawrence Sprague (Dawn), Carol Sprague, Lynn Bobb (William), and many adored extended family members. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by sister Kathy Sprague Suisman, nephew Christopher Bordoni, and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Sprague.
Jimmy was a natural athlete who participated and excelled in numerous sports over the years. He also found great pleasure in attending his stepson’s and daughter’s sports games. He was particularly very proud of Shaylee’s athleticism. Music was a love of Jim’s and he discovered he had the ability to create it as a drummer in several local bands. This was an inspiring release for him. Jim was a stop and smell the roses guy, always hoped to see a smile on your face, but knew this was not always a possibility. So smile, it carries so much weight.
Jim went straight to work from high school, where he spent over forty years with Therm Inc. He was a quality assurance lab tech. During this time many bonds were forged, many lifelong friendships to carry on. I will miss you all.
Jim raised one daughter Shaylee Morgan Sprague. From minute one till his death, Jim spent his energy making her feel happiness in her life. Like the scarecrow from Wizard of Ozz, I will miss you most.
Also a small devotion to his ex, Shannon Hurd Sprague. For inviting me into her home, allowing me the peace and dignity for such an undertaking. You will be missed. Also to Trevor and Tyler Morrissette.
Services will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Friday, July 2nd at 10 am. A burial at Calvary Cemetery and reception at The Eagles will immediately follow.
