Montour Falls

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of James Stanley Allen on February 10, 2025, at the age of 88. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, James was a man of great skill, warmth, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Born and raised in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, James spent his life mastering the art of hard work. A gifted blacksmith and farrier, he was a true jack-of-all-trades, always ready to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge. Whether working with horses, crafting with his hands, or solving a problem, he did everything with dedication and precision.

James had a deep love for the outdoors, finding peace in fishing and joy in caring for horses. He especially loved taking trail rides and blazing new trails with his family, always eager to explore the beauty of nature and create lasting memories along the way. Some of his grandchildren’s favorite memories are of the times he spent teaching them how to fish, passing down both the skill and the simple joy of waiting for a bite. Those cherished days by the water and on the trails will forever remain in their hearts.

But above all, his greatest love was for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marjorie-Kay, and his children: James, William Bradley (Linette), Kimberly Ann, and Amy Lynn. He also leaves behind his sister, Kathy (Terry), as well as his cherished grandchildren: Amanda (Phillip), Ryan (Jacqueline), Nathaniel, Natasha (Ryan), Tabitha (David), Matthew (Margarita), Michael (Kaci), Katelyn, Devon, Alexander, Xavier, Thomas, Keenan, and Aidan. His love continues to live on through his great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jade, Victoria, Grace, Renae, Elaina, Archer, Leah, Colton, Cody, Owen, Abigail, Solomon, Santana, Scarlet, Rosalyn, Theodore, Wyatt, and Isabelle.

James is preceded in death by his sons, Joseph and Daniel Charles; his brothers, Fred and Thomas; and his great-granddaughter, Danielle.

As he passed, James crossed the bridge to be greeted by his beloved horse, Woody, no doubt reunited in a place where the fields are endless, the trails are never-ending, and the journey never stops.

In keeping with his generous spirit and commitment to education, James proudly donated his body to science at Upstate Medical University.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Mustang Heritage Foundation , P.O. Box 290003, 525 Royal Pkwy, Nashville, TN 37229-9715.

James’s legacy of hard work, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
