Jack Truman Baker, 80, of Danby, NY passed away on August 7th, 2022.  Jack was born August 3,1942, to late Gerald and Iva Baker.  Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda (Poole) Baker, and their two sons, Jack J. Baker & Jeffrey N. Baker (Karyn) and grandchildren: Darryl, Jessie, Jenna, Connor, Latasha, Hailey, Lindsay, Brianna & Lillihana.  Jack is also survived by his brother, Carlton (Robin); and sister, Charlotte (Ray) and numerous nieces and nephews.  Jack was predeceased by his sister, Charlene “Sue” Howard.

Jack was employed by Morse Chain and later Emerson Power Transmission where he worked until his retirement after 50 plus years as a tool grinder machinist at the factory on South Hill.  Jack was a strong and devoted member to the community, and was a life member of the Danby Fire & Rescue Department, where he served as, member, Assistant Chief, Chief and Fire Commissioner for 40+ years before retiring.  He also served as a little league coach, and scout master for many years.  Jack was always involved in supporting anything to do with youth and community at large.

There will be a graveside service on August 20th at 1:00 p.m. at South Hill Cemetery, Coddington Road, Ithaca for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation in his honor be made to your local fire department.
