Irene Kenigson, 87, of 114 Cascadilla Ave. Ithaca, NY passed away Friday June 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving Children and Grandchildren.
Irene was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 5, 1926. Daughter of the late Jack and Ruth Ginsberg Hyman.
Irene attended a special trade school to learn Spanish and International law. She later became a licensed Bilingual Story Teller, which was her passion. Irene and her Therapy dog "Hannah" visited libraries, hospitals, schools and hospices. Irene was deeply loved by all who knew her and children everywhere called her Grandma Irene.
Survivors include Sister Harriet, Sons: Ronald (Terry) Kenigson and Roger (Kathy) Kenigson, Daughter: Leslie (David) Daniels-Gardner, Grandchildren: Jonathan, Jessica, Rachel, Matthew, Lisa and Noah, also Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday June 23, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Bangs Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greensprings Natural Cemetery, Newfield. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospicare 172 E. King Rd. Ithaca in Irene's memory
