H. Raymond "Ray" Morey, of Moravia, NY, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2015 at his home at the age of 78. He was born in Ithaca on May 11, 1937, son of the late Raymond and Loretta Ocello Morey.
Ray was a graduate of Manlius School, Class of 1955. He was a banker, retiring from Cayuga Lake National Bank in 2012 and taught a banking course at TC3 for several years. Ray loved all sports, especially golf. He officiated basketball, football and lacrosse for 32 years and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Moravia. Ray's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, loving them unconditionally.
Ray is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Parente Morey; his four sons, Michael (Kathy) of Franklin, TN and Scott (Lynne), Matthew (Pamela) and Steven all of Moravia; his seven grandchildren, Kalan (Nathan) Phelps, Kennedy Morey, Christopher (Fallon), Kyle and Megan Morey and Scott and Nathaniel Morey and his great-grandchildren, Anthony Morey and Peyton Phelps. In addition to his parents, Ray was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Edward Morey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 02, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Prayers of committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will be present to receive family and friends on Monday, June 01, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Contributions in Ray's memory, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Dr., Auburn, NY 13021. The family would like to the wonderful staff of Hospice for their loving care during Ray's illness.
