George J. Zavaski

George J. Zavaski, 92, lifelong Ithaca resident, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Beechtree Care Center. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late John and Julie Sacco Zavaski and was the widower of Pauline L. Zavaski who died February 11, 2009.George was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School, Ithaca High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology and was the retired owner of Ridley Printing in Ithaca. He served with the United States Army during World War II, was a life member of VFW Post #961 in Ithaca and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.George is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Brenda Zavaski; his grandsons, Kyle (Melissa), Alex (Nicole) and Keith Zavaski and great-grandchildren, Alina, Carolyn, Sydney, Hadley and Keller Zavaski. George is also survived by his brother, Robert Zavaski (Agnes) and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his brothers, John, Stephen, Michael and Joseph and sisters, Mary Egbert and Ann Hollister.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Augustine Chumo on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 1pm to 3pm at the Bangs Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Cayuga Commons at Beechtree Care Center for their wonderful care.
