George A. Lahr Iii

July 22, 1937 — December 5, 2014

George A. Lahr III, of Newfield, passed away on Friday, December 05, 2014 at the Cayuga Medical Center.

George had been a bus driver for over 35 years. He retired from TCAT in 2002 and had previously worked for Cornell Transit. He was a member of the Eagles, The V.F.W. and the Montour Falls Moose.

George is survived by his daughters, Deborah and Kimberly Lahr; his step daughters, Debbi (Bruce) Campbell and Dawn Shriner-Williams and his grandchildren, Robert, Jessica, Amber, Whitney, Sara and Shannon. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his friend and companion, Mary Cacciotti. George was predeceased by his wife, Joan "Joni" Lahr; his mother and step father, Winifred and Floyd Tyler; his father, George A. Lahr, II; his son, George A. Lahr IV and his brother, Richard Lahr.

A celebration of George's life will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Ithaca Eagles Club. There are no calling hours. Private burial will be held at the Cooper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to The Recovery House. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
