George Houghton, aged 86, passed away on September 4, 2019.
A graduate of Alfred University, he lived with his wife Jo in the town of Caroline for over 50 years, worked at Cornell University until retiring in 1994, and did programming work for the USDA until about 2008. He was an avid Outing Club member in his youth and climbed several peaks in the Grand Tetons, and he enjoyed camping, canoeing, biking and birding with his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 2 at 2pm at the Caroline Center Church on Buffalo Road. Donations in his name can be made to Foodnet of Tompkins County.
