Gaetan A. Martin passed away on Tuesday, May 03, 2016 in Ithaca, NY one day shy of his 84th birthday. He was born in Lewiston, ME, son of the late Jean and Gabrielle Bedard Martin and was the widower of Marie Jeanne Martin who died on February 12, 2016. He and Marie had lived in Ithaca for the past 20 years.
Gaetan was retired from Pratt & Whitney where he had worked for many years and had served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #961 and the Immaculate Conception Church.
Gaetan is survived by his daughter, Diane (William) Brooks; his sons, Jean (Sundy) Martin and Maurice Martin and his four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Helen (Romeo) LePage and brother, Julien (Jolene) Martin.
A prayer service to celebrate the lives of Gaetan and Marie was held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home with Fr. Jeffrey Tunnicliff officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.F.W. Post 961, 423 W. State St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
